Hybrid & Online Teaching Institute

The Hybrid & Online Teaching Institute is an online offering that guides faculty through adapting their courses from face-to-face to online or hybrid formats.

This offering provides instructors a foundation that can serve across all formats of teaching with the capacity to adapt quickly to whatever mode of teaching makes the most sense at any given time. The institute provides faculty with a comprehensive toolkit they can apply to their own course context whether this may be a seminar, small lecture, or large lecture class.

Dates: April 27 or June 21 (10:00-11:30am)
Format: mix of asynchronous and synchronous online activities

Course Design Intensive

Are you looking to design a new course, or change the design of an existing course? Do you want to get a jumpstart on course planning for an upcoming semester? Join the CTL and Columbia faculty colleagues for a guided, community experience of the course design process. Apply by April 19.

Dates: April 23 and April 28 (10am–12pm)
Format: 2 day workshop; mix of asynchronous and synchronous online activities

Active Learning Institute

Looking for ways to increase student engagement in your face-to-face or online classroom? In this four-day immersive online experience, Columbia faculty will explore the purposes and benefits of active learning and learn how to apply these research-based practices by developing their own active and learner-centered (face-to-face or online) course units. Apply by Monday, May 17.

Dates: June 17 – June 22
Format: 4 day workshop; mix of asynchronous and synchronous online activities

CUIMC Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning

The 2021 CUIMC Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning is a three day online hybrid workshop devoted to exploring effective teaching and learning strategies in health sciences education for online and in-person teaching. This program is designed for junior faculty or senior faculty who have recently taken on a new teaching role. Apply by Monday, May 10, 5pm.

Dates: June 29 – July 1 (9am-12pm)
Format: 3 day workshop; mix of asynchronous and synchronous online activities
