The Center for Teaching and Learning and Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement are pleased to invite Columbia faculty to enroll in the online Office of the Provost Faculty Orientation to welcome and acclimate you to the 2020 academic year. This virtual orientation program aims to complement your own school’s orientation activities by introducing a range of University resources and offices devoted to supporting your teaching and scholarship.
The orientation comprises a series of online self-paced CourseWorks modules. It is estimated that the course will take 4 hours to complete. This orientation is open to all Columbia faculty; it is especially useful for new or junior faculty
Orient Yourself: Tools for Hybrid/Hyflex and Online Teaching
Workshop: Teaching Online with CourseWorks
Join us in exploring how to create community, support student engagement, and assess student learning in the online context using CourseWorks. This 90-minute workshop will give you an overview of the CourseWorks interface and highlight a toolset that will allow you to set up a course with clear expectations for students, create opportunities for a variety of assignment engagements, and nurture an environment that encourages a culture of inclusive communication. CUIT Zoom Training and Recordings
Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) leads live Zoom training sessions and Q&A office hours on a weekly basis, and offers recorded training sessions. Check out their website for hours and information.
