Online New Faculty Orientation to Teaching

by | Jan 9, 2020

Are you new to teaching at Columbia? Or a seasoned faculty member starting a new teaching role? The Columbia University Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) offers all faculty an online orientation that offers practical, evidence-based strategies you can implement immediately in class and acclimates you to the Columbia teaching culture.

The online New Faculty Orientation to Teaching offers an overview of campus resources for teaching and learning, an introduction to pedagogical strategies such as learner-centered teaching, and provides frameworks for active learning and inclusive teaching that help you support all your students and engage them in learning.

The course also includes video clips of faculty and student panels from the fall semester’s in-person orientation. Watch to hear Columbia faculty share what they wish they had known on their first day and Columbia students discuss their most memorable and engaging learning experiences.
