Fall 2020 CIRTL Workshops and Courses
The Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) is an NSF-supported consortium of 38 universities working to transform the future of higher education. Since Columbia is a CIRTL member, Columbia graduate students are able to sign up for the range of online pedagogical workshops and courses offered during the fall semester starting today, Monday, August 10.
CIRTL offerings connect you to conversations around teaching and learning across the US and Canada and help you continue to grow your teaching practice beyond Columbia. Participation in them counts for credit towards Columbia’s Teaching Development Program (TDP).
To join you will need to sign up for a CIRTL account, which is free. Here are a few highlights from CIRTL’s fall programming slate:

Equity in STEM for ALL Genders (10/1-12/3) is a semester-long course to help you leverage empirical research about gender bias to combat gender bias in the classroom and the academy.

Reducing Math Anxiety Among Your Students (10/14) is a workshop that will help you develop strategies to identify and support students struggling with math anxiety, whatever your teaching context. This is the first graduate student-led workshop to run on the CIRTL network, and is co-facilitated by Sarah Kramer, a former Lead Teaching Fellow in Columbia’s Department of Environmental Health Sciences.
