Teaching Observations
Are you looking for confidential feedback on your teaching? A CTL Teaching Consultant can meet with you to understand your goals for an upcoming class session, attend the session to observe your instruction and student activities, and debrief with you afterwards. You will receive a confidential report containing observations about how the goals you have set for the class have been met, suggesting future adjustments, and highlighting pertinent resources available to you. To arrange for a teaching observation, submit a request at least two weeks prior to the date when you would like a Teaching Consultant to visit your class.
Teaching observations count towards completion of CTL’s Teaching Development Program for graduate students.

Designing and Using Effective Rubrics
Considering ways to make your assessments more equitable and streamline the grading process? This session will introduce rubrics as a tool for equitable and efficient assessment. Participants will learn to apply an inclusive teaching lens to assessment design and feedback delivery through the development of rubrics. Participants will explore three types of rubrics and try their hand at developing an inclusive rubric for assessing student participation—an area often assessed, but at risk of being inconsistent or following opaque criteria.
Attending this workshop and posting a reflection satisfies the a Pedagogy Workshop requirement for participants in the Teaching Development Program (TDP).

CTLgrads Journal Club
Are you interested in the research on teaching and learning and how to apply this research to your teaching practice? Join us for our CTLgrads Journal Club where we will introduce you to the research on teaching in various disciplines (also known as Discipline-Based Education Research, or DBER) and engage peer-reviewed articles through our group discussions and contributions to the journal club. Each session will also focus on how we can use education research—in our field and beyond—to inform our own teaching practices.
