This Week for Graduate Students: Call for Applications: 2020-21 Teaching Assessment Fellows

by | Jul 13, 2020

Apply Now for a 2020-21 Teaching Assessment Fellowship

The CTL is accepting applications for 2020-21 Teaching Assessment Fellows (TAFs) now through Monday, July 20.

TAFs engage directly with strategies and methodologies for evaluating the efficacy of teaching, as they help to analyze the impact of teaching projects proposed by Columbia faculty and funded by the Office of the Provost. TAFs work closely with the CTL, faculty, and each other, and they receive a $2,000 stipend for the academic year.

Columbia doctoral students who have successfully completed the CTL’s Essentials of Teaching and Learning workshop series, a CTL seminar or institute, and/or a CTL fellowship are eligible for this program.

CTLgrads Summer Book Club

Are you interested in the research on teaching and learning in online spaces and how to apply this research to your teaching practice? Join us every other week for this summer’s CTLgrads Bookclub where we will read Minds Online: Teaching Effectively with Technology (2014) by Michelle Miller, PhD, and dig into the research on student learning, memory, attention, and motivation in digital and online learning environments.

We read 1-2 chapters each session and will also focus on how to use education research like Miller’s work to inform our own teaching practices. Participants are expected to have read the chapters beforehand in order to contribute to and learn from the bookclub’s discussions. These sessions are open to graduate students and postdocs, feel free to join any or all sessions throughout the summer!

The CTLgrads Bookclub will be held online. Registered participants will be sent a meeting ID and passcode to join before each session via Zoom. Register through the links below:
