New Faculty Orientation to Teaching

Are you brand new to teaching at Columbia? Or a seasoned faculty member starting a new teaching role? The Columbia University Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) welcomes all faculty to an orientation that offers practical, evidence-based strategies you can implement on the first day of class, and introduces you to the Columbia teaching culture.

During the opening panel, participants will have an opportunity to hear from colleagues about what they wish they had known on the first day. They will also hear Columbia students share their most memorable and engaging learning experiences. CTL facilitators will lead sessions on high-impact strategies for the first week of class and beyond. At the end of the day, participants are invited to gather with their colleagues for wine, cheese, and opportunities to network with other faculty members.
