Teaching Landscapes: Explore the Transition from Graduate Careers to Faculty Positions

The Center for Teaching and Learning is excited to announce a new professional development event for graduate students, featuring alumni who hold teaching positions at institutions in the greater New York area. “Teaching Landscapes” will help Columbia graduate students explore the transition from graduate careers to faculty positions by hearing directly from recent GSAS alumni who are teaching across a variety of academic institutions (private research university, public university, liberal arts college). Space is limited; please register via the link below.

There’s still time to apply for the Innovative Teaching Summer Institute!

The Innovative Teaching Summer Institute (ITSI) for Columbia doctoral students is a four-day series of collaborative workshops, discussions, and shared reflections all centered on the use of emerging teaching practices and technologies to support effective teaching.

The Institute is an opportunity for graduate student instructors to work with peers from a variety of disciplines, discuss pedagogical priorities, connect with resources and support, and develop themselves as innovative teachers. This program is open to all current Columbia University doctoral students. An upcoming teaching appointment is desirable, but not necessary to participate in the Summer Institute. To participate, please apply via the online form by Monday, May 14, 2018.
