Slow Teaching: Deep Listening

December 2, 2016
1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Butler Library Room 212

How might the practice of active listening benefit your ability to connect with yourself and with others? What would focused listening help you and your students achieve in class and beyond? In this session, we will explore simple yet powerful mindful listening exercises, and contemplate how such practices enhance our ability to teach and learn.

The Slow Teaching, Deep Learning series seeks to develop reflective communities of inquiry through contemplative practice. In each session, participants will engage with emerging research regarding the benefits of mindfulness in and outside of the classroom, and be guided through exercises they can potentially apply to their personal and pedagogical practices. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
