The CTL holds orientations for faculty and graduate student instructors at the start of the school year. Any instructor may attend, but these sessions are particularly useful for new and junior faculty, teaching fellows, and teaching assistants. Orientations provide practical, evidence-based strategies that instructors can implement on the first day of class and help supplement department-based orientations and trainings.

Orientation for Faculty

At the start of each semester, the CTL provides faculty with an orientation that offers practical, evidence-based strategies faculty can implement on the first day of class, and introduces new faculty to the Columbia teaching culture.

The CTL offers a set of orientation sessions that are open to all new teaching assistants, teaching fellows, and other graduate students in an instructor role. Experienced Teaching Fellows will attend to answer questions and offer advice.
