Ruilin Fan

Ruilin, she/her, is in her seventh year as a PhD candidate in the Department of English and Comparative Literature. She has taught University Writing, a mandatory course for first-year undergraduates, and led weekly two-hour seminars for the introductory class to the English major, “Literary Text, Critical Methods.” She was a Teaching Observation Fellow in the 2022-23 academic year and a Teaching Assessment Fellow in 2023-24, where she studied the efficacy of provost-funded innovative teaching initiatives. She served as the Senior Lead Teaching Fellow in 2024-2025, leading a group of graduate students in the assessment of the CTL’s Teaching Orientation for Graduate Students program. Ruilin is particularly passionate about decentering grades in education and designing embodied learning experiences.
