Careers in Educational Development

Curious about the field of educational development as a career trajectory? Come hear from the CTL’s Assistant Directors (ADs) and Learning Designers (LDs) about our recent paths to careers in educational development and our early experiences in this field. Through a brief pre-session reading and informed in-session Q&A, participants in this session will learn about a range of interests and pathways that led us to this career path, the kinds of opportunities we sought out along the way, and how we prepared for our transition into the field of educational development.

ThisĀ workshop counts towards track completionĀ inĀ theĀ Teaching Development Program.

Date:Ā Wednesday May 7
Time:Ā 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Location:Ā 212 Butler Library

TDP Preparing to Teach: Material Prep Bootcamp

In order to successfully complete a track in theĀ Teaching Development ProgramĀ (TDP), participants need to generate and annotate two important documents: a policy sheet and first day plan. This bootcampĀ helpsĀ participants create these documents in a supportive environment.

Highlights of this bootcamp include:

  • An introduction to the purpose and structure of policy sheets and first day of class plan
  • An opportunity to see and discuss exemplary sample materials
  • Dedicated time for active drafting one or both documents
  • A supportive environment for receiving constructive feedback from peers and CTL staff

ThisĀ offering supports completion of the Preparing to Teach requirement inĀ theĀ Teaching Development Program, and also satisfies a Pedagogy Workshop requirement.

Date:Ā Wednesday May 14
Time:Ā 10:10Ā AM – 12:00 PM
Location:Ā 212 Butler Library
