Abby Schroering is Assistant Director of Graduate Student Programs and Services at the CTL. She develops and supports programming, services, and fellowships for graduate students at Columbia. Her background in performance and ecology informs her commitment to facilitating active embodiment, wellbeing, and sustainability across teaching contexts.

Before joining as Assistant Director, Abby served at the CTL as a senior fellow and teaching consultant. She earned a Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance from Columbia, where she has taught classes in the University Writing Program and the Department of English and Comparative Literature. Her B.A. is from the University of Kentucky (Go Cats!), where she studied theater and English and worked as a stage manager and lighting designer.

Outside of the office, Abby runs, bakes, reads and listens to books, gardens, and goes to the theater. She lives with her husband and a boxer-pittie mutt named Dahlia.
