Opportunities for Faculty

Networking

The CTL offers a number of ways for faculty to stay connected and build community on campus. Get to know your department’s faculty liaison here. The liaisons help to keep the CTL informed about faculty and graduate students’ needs for programming and support, and share announcements of CTL programs and activities to colleagues in their departments.

Funding Support

The Office of the Provost provides funding opportunities for Columbia faculty who are looking to innovate in their classroom or online environments. Recipients are paired with CTL learning designers to bring the project to fruition.

Hybrid Learning Course Redesign and Delivery
The Hybrid Learning Course Redesign and Delivery grant program provides support for faculty who are developing innovative and technology-rich pedagogy and learning strategies in the classroom. Instructors of courses selected will have access to the resources and support of the CTL for content development, instructional design, media production, systems integration, assessment, and project management. Learn more about this opportunity and past awardees here.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
The Office of the Provost also supports open online courses taught by Columbia faculty. Courses offered through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) platforms have the potential to reach large audiences across the globe, to stimulate curiosity and intellectual exploration, to make more visible the teaching and research activities of the University, and to promote public engagement. While the experience of developing these courses can be rewarding, MOOCs require substantial time to prepare. Accepted courses will receive extensive consultation services and support for instructional design and media production from the CTL. Learn more about this opportunity and past awardees here.
