Jamie Kim is an Assistant Director of Faculty Programs and Services at the CTL. Jamie develops and facilitates programming and services for faculty, postdoctoral, adjunct, and other instructors at Columbia University. She specializes in conversation analysis, classroom discourse, collaborating learning, and active learning. Trained in teaching English to speakers of other languages and online teaching, Jamie is committed to promoting an inclusive and equitable learning environment in which participants’ identities, backgrounds, and experiences are acknowledged and respected.

Prior to joining the CTL, Jamie worked at the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence at the Pennsylvania State University, developing and facilitating university-wide educational workshops on various teaching and intercultural issues in higher education. She was also an instructor in the Department of Applied Linguistics at Penn State. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Penn State, an Ed.M. in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University, an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Penn State, and a B.A. in Journalism and Chinese from Washington and Lee University. Her research focuses on examining classroom interaction through the lens of conversation analysis.

In her spare time, Jamie enjoys playing tennis, watching musicals, visiting art museums, and traveling.
