New Self-Paced, Online Course: Blended Learning Essentials

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) has launched a new self-paced, online course on blended learning featuring Columbia University faculty. The course is free and open to all Columbia instructors.

About the Course:

This self-paced course provides Columbia instructors with an overview of blended learning and guides them through the design process for a lesson or unit of study. Upon completing the course, instructors will be able to apply effective blended learning design and practices to their teaching contexts and appropriately use resources needed to build, implement, and evaluate a blended lesson or unit.

Blended Learning Essentials consists of four modules:

The modules feature videos of Columbia University faculty and former recipients of the Provost’s Hybrid Learning Course Redesign and Delivery grants, who share their blended teaching and learning experiences. Featured faculty including Caroline Marvin, Patricia Lindemann, Kyle Mandli, Rachel Gordon, Brent Stockwell, Alhelí Alvarado-Diaz, and Angelina Craig-Flórez.

Columbia faculty and instructors can receive one-on-one support on blended learning by emailing ColumbiaCTL@columbia.edu to set-up a consultation, drop in to the CTL’s office in Butler Library (Room 212) during walk-in consultation hours, or directly contact the CTL Learning Designer assigned to their school or department.
