Showcasing Your Teaching Development

Last year CTL launched the Teaching Development Program (TDP), a new way for doctoral students to document and articulate their teaching development at Columbia. Completion of foundational or advanced tracks in the TDP is certified by the CTL and noted on transcripts in some schools. For more information or to register, see here.

This session is for current and prospective participants in the TDP who are interested in learning more about the program, mapping out strategies for track completion, setting up or filling in TDP digital teaching portfolios, and/or more strategically highlighting teaching development within job searches. Students currently in the TDP program as well as those thinking about jumping in are invited to join us. A light lunch will be available to registrants.

Date: Friday, September 6
Time: 12:10 PM – 1:25 PM
Location: 203 Butler Library

Writing Your Teaching Statement

Are you drafting a teaching statement for the academic job market? Participants in this workshop will have a hands-on opportunity learn the elements of an effective teaching statement, analyze sample statements, and engage in activities to kick-start the writing process.

Date: Wednesday, September 11
Time: 4:10 PM – 6:00 PM
