Columbia’s Center for Teaching and Learning is holding orientation sessions in August for teaching assistants in the Natural, Health, and Applied Sciences.
Orientations provide an opportunity for new instructors to:
- Get familiar with instructional resources on campus, procedures and policies, and methods for getting a class off to a good start.
- Connect with other first-time instructors as well as teaching support staff at the CTL.
- Explore topics such as teaching for the first time, active learning, grading strategies and rubrics, syllabus design, tools for teaching and learning, among others.
There is another orientation session for teaching assistants in the Humanities and Social Sciences on September 1.
