Marissa Swan

Marissa (she/her) is currently a 5th year PhD candidate in the Department of Classics. At the CTL she has served as a Lead Teaching Fellow (2020-2021) and a Teaching Assessment Fellow (2022-2023), and has also served as a co-organizer for her department’s Team Teaching Pedagogy Colloquium. In her careers, Marissa has taught a variety of courses. At the University of Maryland – College Park, she taught Classical Mythology in translation, as well two study abroad art history courses—one in France and the other in Italy. At Columbia, she has served as an Instructor of Record for both Intensive Elementary Latin and Greek, Intermediate Latin, and Classical Mythology in translation. She is committed to inclusive pedagogy in all of her classrooms and is always brainstorming ways to make course content more accessible to all.
