Medical Center (CUMC) Summer Institute
The CUMC Summer Institute is a one-day workshop for junior faculty or senior faculty who had taken on a new teaching role. The Institute focuses on exploring effective teaching and learning strategies in health sciences education.

At this Institute, instructors participate in activities focused on improving teaching through instructional design; writing learning objectives; assessing student learning; engaging students in their own learning; strategies for encouraging classroom discussion; and reflective teaching.
The Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning is facilitated by members of CUMC’s teaching community and is sponsored by Anna Maxwell Teaching Academy; Columbia Center for Teaching and Learning; Diamond Teaching Academy; Mailman School of Public Health Teaching Academy; the Office of Academic Affairs at the College of Physicians and Surgeons; and the Virginia Apgar Academy of Medical Educators.
