Rekindle Your Joy for Teaching
Reflecting on teaching can help restore joy and benefit student learning. As you try to make meaning of pandemic teaching and sustain your practices, the CTL is here to help! In addition to your own reflection, consider collecting feedback from students and peers and using that information to plan forward. Need support as you implement changes? Consult with the CTL and consider applying for a Provost Teaching and Learning Grant.
- Invite students to provide feedback
No need to wait for end-of-course surveys. Engage your students in ongoing dialogue about their learning by inviting their feedback. The CTL’s resource on Early and Mid-Semester Student Feedback outlines two approaches for collecting feedback. This can be done via an anonymous survey (e.g., using Google Form, Qualtrics, or other survey tool). Reflect on the data and share back with students the changes that you will make based on their feedback. - Open up your classroom for feedback
Request a CTL Teaching Observation to receive confidential feedback on your teaching. Gain perspective on your teaching, validate your strengths, and identify areas you would like to work on. Our consultants can help you think through your course goals, reflect on your teaching practices that support your students’ learning, and plan next steps for small chances to meet your teaching objectives. - Make your innovative course or curricular (re)design ideas come true!
