John Thorp

Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Psychology; CTL Teaching Consultant

John (he/him) is a fifth year PhD student working in the Davachi Construction, Organization, and Reactivation of Experience (CORE) Lab within the Department of Psychology. His dissertation research focuses on how our memory system helps us identify the underlying causes of our experience and uses these inferences to update its existing memories. In his third year, he served as the co-Lead Teaching Fellow for his department, planning events around the move back to in-person teaching as well as approaches behind the ungrading philosophy of teaching. The following year, he was a Teaching Observation Fellow before becoming a Teaching Consultant this year. He also serves as a Senior Student Assistant with the Science of Learning Research (SOLER) Initiative, also housed within the Provost’s Office. He is passionate about centering process and individual agency within the classroom and is always happy to talk about how to do so!
