End-of-Semester Resources

Manage final assessments and grading
The CTL offers resources on assessing student learning that you can access on demand, including:

You can also receive support with assessment platforms such as Gradescope or CourseWorks (Canvas) during our office hours via Zoom (or phone) Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.

Get the support you and your students need
The end of the semester can be a stressful time for your and your students. Consider sharing well-being resources with your students, and know who to contact when you are concerned about a student.

The CTL’s Teaching in Times of Stress and Challenge has a list of resources that you can connect with as you complete the semester. Interwoven are excerpts from thank-you notes submitted by Columbia students to their professors (through the CTL’s Thank-a-Professor | Thank-a-TA initiative), a good reminder of the gratitude students have for the things we do in the classroom to support them.

Collect actionable feedback from students
Encourage your students to fill out the end-of-course evaluation surveys by letting them know that their feedback matters. Explain to them how you will use the information they provide to improve the course. For free-response comments, ask students to provide specific examples of what would improve the learning experience.

Need assistance interpreting and using the feedback you received? Please email CTLfaculty@columbia.edu to set up a confidential consultation.
